AMMR follows the authorship criteria of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). To qualify as an author, a person must meet all of the following:
- 1Substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
- 2Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content.
- 3Final approval of the version to be published.
- 4Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions of accuracy or integrity are appropriately investigated and resolved.
- Contributors who do not meet all four criteria (e.g. funding acquisition, general supervision, or technical help only) should be named in the Acknowledgments, not listed as authors.
- The first (corresponding) author submits on behalf of all co-authors and warrants that every listed author has approved the submission and the author order.
- Guest, gift, and ghost authorship are prohibited.
Changes to Authorship
Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors must be made before acceptance, in writing, signed by all authors (including the one added or removed), with a clear justification. Additions of authors after a manuscript has been accepted without a clear and logical reason are not permitted and, if identified, are not recognized.
